Hello…I’m Amy.

Thank you for stopping by! Whether you chanced upon my website, or purposely followed the link, the first thing I want you to do is get comfortable. The road of vision loss is tiring and difficult to navigate. Often, we can’t see beyond the bend. Or even around us. Of course, We. Need. Breathers.

Did you think you accepted your vision loss only to find yourself facing the real test later? Are words like white cane, orientation, mobility, independence in living, rehab, even … blind …  popping into your path or along the peripheral … when your sight … isn’t?  Maybe you’ve started your career or you’re in the middle of it and doing well, do you wonder why now?

If so, you’re at the right place. I’ve been there. Tripping over fears. Slip-sliding on panic. Discouragement knocked me on my behind. But guess what? I met some people who understood the challenges. They gave me a hand up and showed me the tools to move forward.

I learned patience. Treated myself more kindly. When I regained humor, optimism followed. Best of all, I started training. Yes, I picked up a long white cane. I did it!

Are you comfortable? I’ve got a few stories that might echo your own … I’m sure you’ll be able to relate. Take it easy and catch your breath. When you’re ready, I’d love you to join me on my journey. Together we’ll seek out the sunshine.

“I smiled and cried with Amy in the book. Thankful she shared her life and all the scriptures.

It was so uplifting. Once I started reading, I couldn’t put it down.”

–Patricia Derby

“What a wonderful book. I finished it already. I can relate to everything that happened to Amy in this book because these things happened to me as well. I love the inspiring quotes and Bible verses. Thank you, Amy, for writing such a wonderful book. It’s something I can go back to when I feel down.” – Flo V. Walsh (via iTunes)

“Our church family thoroughly enjoyed Amy Bovaird’s speaking. Her energetic and joyful style kept all who were at the service totally engaged in her faith testimony.”

—Senior Pastor Girard Alliance Church

“Amy is an inspiring speaker who uses humor in her talks.  She related how God has worked and is working in her life to help her face the difficult challenge of losing her vision. We so enjoyed her presentation.”

Dottie Super, Fairview United Methodist Church

In my blog, I share my personal insights about how to overcome losses and find joy every day.  Although I struggle with Retinitis Pigmentosa, a progressive hereditary vision condition that results in blindness, I focus on moving forward positively. I believe it’s important to lead an active and vibrant life so I run outside every day (except when Pennsylvania has 12 feet of snow) and I try various recipes in my cozy kitchen.  Life can be rewarding, and I’m determined to make it happen.
