On Mondays, I post my column A Sight for Sore Eyes, which features a humorous look at life through a vision-impaired lens, with a tagline of Embracing The Lighter Side of Vision Loss. This capitalizes on a situation I’ve gone through that tickles me! If others can see what I see, it’ll begin to bridge the gap between sighted and vision-impaired.
On Wednesdays, I post my Jesus, The Other Sun column. The stories I share here reflect some sight struggle and provide an insight God has revealed to me about that situation using a scripture, event, memory or some concrete symbol of hope to provide comfort or understanding.
Now I’d like to unveil a brand new column idea called Friday Friends. This column will consist of writing in a variety of forums. I might have some interviews. Others will be written by guest bloggers.
What can you expect from the posts in my Friday Friends column?
- It’s about, and often, by, those people I’ve come to admire.
- You’ll see those who persevere and accomplish a variety of careers.
- You’ll find those with upbeat strategies in difficult situations.
- You’ll read about those who pursue interesting sidelines and hobbies.
They’ll intrigue and delight.
- You’ll be enlightened by those who cope with unstable environments.
They’ll teach you to appreciate.
These are the people who I want to surround myself with.
Some may be vision-impaired like me, and others may face life with unwavering hope or trust. Others have the spirit of giving, or educating, or sharing faith. The people I want to share with you in my Friday Friends column touch me in some way. I’m sure they’ll do the same when you read about their lives.
Won’t you take the hand of a Friday Friend and clasp it, then pass on the strength of a joined handshake to others?
Get ready for the countdown. Only 8 more days til Friday Friends begins…January 24th!
